Nephoscope Lightning Alerts — SMS Terms

Program: Nephoscope Lightning Alerts. Nephoscope is an iPhone app for lightning safety. If you choose text alerts, we send you a text when lightning is detected within the distance you picked (for example 10 miles) of one of your saved sites. We also send an all-clear once no lightning has been detected inside that distance for 30 minutes.

Message frequency varies with the weather. Expect a few messages per week in storm season and usually none in calm weather.

How you opt in

You can only sign up for text alerts inside the Nephoscope app, under Settings › Alerts › Text message alerts. Enter your mobile number, then tick the consent checkbox yourself (it is never pre-checked). The app then texts you a one-time code to confirm the number is yours. Alerts start after you enter that code, and the first alert-program message you get is a signup confirmation. Text alerts are optional. You don't need them to use Nephoscope, and push notifications work without them.

Nephoscope: All clear. No lightning within 10 mi of "Home Field" for 30 min (as of 4:15 PM). Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

Help and opting out

Reply HELP to any message for help, or email hi@dannyleontieff.com. Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) to cancel. You'll get one message confirming that you're unsubscribed, and nothing after that. Reply START to resubscribe. You can also turn text alerts off in the app at any time.

Important
